Anyone able to suggest a semi decent one? im starting to get seriously fucked off by the via onboard audio that i have, all via suggested me to do was look in their forums, maybe they should stop releasing broken drivers(both xp and win7 the drivers have some really nasty problems lol)
i dont want to spend any more than roughly 40 quid on a sound card, been looking at some asus sonar cards but i have no idea if they're any good lol, cant be bothered with google, thought i'd get you guys involved instead lol

where to start lol.. in win7, my main volume resets to just above zero if i shutdown/reboot, the software that it uses constantly screws up when im playing music, say i skip track in winamp, the via program will suddenly consume 50% cpu time and make my system lag til i kill it, i cant use the driver on its own as the mic wont detect without it lol, its the same thing with every driver package via have released for it, under xp its worse, the inputs in the mixer swap from mic to stereo mix while im in left 4 dead 2, upon a map change LOL, and with the newest xp driver the audio will go really tinny and crackly in games and will cut out in most new games, so yeah biggest pos ive seen lol, the audio hardware itself is great, but the software to make it work is crap, why asus didnt go with a realtek chip for sound i dont know, its not even a via motherboard chipset its AMD 780G lol!

Argh.. yea seems like a driver issue for sure.
My asus board came with a realtek
I know you are a tech guy so i wont be giving any tips lol althought there might be a solution somewhere on the net.
I remember years ago when i assembled PCs with the VIA chipset. It was a real pain, hardware didnt work properly unless i installed the VIA chipset software (windows 98se era).
Im seeing an Hercules (gamesurround muse 5.1) sound card thats not very expensive (around 30 gbps i spose) its a PCI.
